A comprehensive guide to Dream Back to Tang Dynasty, an immersive multimedia show at Tang Paradise.
Dream Back to Tang Dynasty (梦回大唐) is an immersive multimedia performance held at the Tang Paradise theme park in Xi'an. The show transports audiences back to the golden age of the Tang Dynasty, featuring grand palace scenes, elegant dance performances, and cultural storytelling that showcase the splendor and prosperity of one of China's greatest dynasties.
The performance combines traditional Chinese music, dance, and theater with modern multimedia technology, including projection mapping, LED displays, and surround sound. Through a series of beautifully choreographed scenes, the show depicts daily life in the imperial court, grand ceremonies, romantic encounters, and the cultural achievements that made Tang Dynasty China a golden age of civilization.
Staged at the Fengming Nine-Heaven Theater inside Tang Paradise, Dream Back to Tang Dynasty (梦回大唐) is a 50-minute panoramic dance drama that whisks audiences across a millennium to the golden age of the Tang Dynasty. Using the imagery of "one moon illuminating past and present," the show unfolds the splendor of Chang'an through four chapters — spanning imperial grandeur, romance, patriotic valor, and Silk Road harmony — blending live dance, poetry, and cutting-edge multimedia effects.
Act I · 大唐之腾飞 (The Soaring of Tang) — The curtain rises on the royal gardens, where a thrilling polo match and the famed dancing horses performance unfold before Emperor Xuanzong and his courtiers. Galloping steeds, swirling dust, and thunderous drums capture the unbridled spirit and boundless vitality of the golden age.
Act II · 大唐之浪漫 (The Romance of Tang) — A tender pas de deux evokes the legendary love between Emperor Xuanzong and Yang Guifei. Before the Hall of Eternal Life, the pair exchanges vows of everlasting devotion; mirrored reflections and intertwining wine cups dissolve into visions of birds flying wing to wing — a poetic ode to the romance and refined aesthetic unique to the Tang court.
Act III · 大唐之风骨 (The Spirit of Tang) — The most emotionally charged chapter. Inspired by Yan Zhenqing's "Eulogy for My Nephew" — the legendary calligraphic masterpiece born of war and grief — scholars abandon their brushes to take up arms and defend the nation. Every stroke of the brush carries the weight of blood and tears, honoring the ironclad loyalty and patriotic backbone that defined Tang's literati.
Act IV · 大唐之和合 (The Harmony of Tang) — Camel bells echo along the ancient Silk Road as travelers from distant lands converge on Chang'an. A fleeting encounter between strangers passes warmth through a silken shawl, and lanterns illuminate the road ahead — a luminous finale that celebrates the Tang Dynasty's all-embracing spirit and vision of "harmony in diversity."
Act I · Rise of Tang · Act II · Romance of Tang
