The Palace Museum

The Forbidden City, also known as the Palace Museum, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located at the center of Beijing, China. It served as the imperial palace for 24 emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368–1912).

Covering an area of 72 hectares with over 9,000 rooms, it is the largest and best-preserved ancient wooden structure complex in the world.

Ticket Booking

Secure your entry to the Forbidden City with our official online booking system. Avoid disappointment - tickets are limited and often sell out quickly.

Booking Important Notices

Advance Booking Required

Tickets must be booked at least 1 day in advance. Same-day tickets are not available. The Forbidden City has a daily visitor limit of 80,000 people.

ID Verification

All visitors must present a valid passport or ID document at the entrance for verification. The name on the ticket must match the name on the ID document.

Entry Time Window

Your ticket is valid for entry during the selected date only. The south gate (Meridian Gate) is the only entrance. Last entry is at 4:00 PM.

Refund Policy

Refunds are available up to 24 hours before the visit date with a 10% service fee. No refunds will be given for no-shows or late cancellations.

Accessibility

Wheelchair rental is available at the entrance (deposit required). Most areas of the Forbidden City are accessible, but some historic buildings have stairs.

Photography Rules

Non-commercial photography is allowed, but tripods and selfie sticks are prohibited inside buildings. Flash photography is not permitted in exhibition halls.
